Energy Drinks During Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

by on May 4, 2012

Pregnant and breastfeeding women are generally advised to limit their intake of caffeine. Since an energy drink can contain as much caffeine as three or more sodas, these beverages are not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Side effects from extremely high doses of caffeine may cause difficulties with the pregnancy as well as sleeplessness, irritability and increased bowel movements in newborns who consume high levels of caffeine through breast milk.
