Boniva and Alcohol
Boniva (ibandronate) is a medication used to prevent and treat osteoporosis or thinning of the bones.
Interactions and Side Effects with Alcohol Use
Boniva is not known to react with alcohol, and alcohol consumptions has no negative effects on the effectiveness of the drug.
Moderate amounts of alcohol can be safely consumed with Boniva. The recommended limits are 2 units for women daily and 3 for men, and 14 units weekly for women and 21 for men. However, you should not exceed these limits because consuming excessive alcohol is a cause of osteoporosis. If you find it hard to drink within these limits, you should contact your physician for help and advice regarding this.
