Symbicort During Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

by on April 25, 2012

Symbicort belongs to pregnancy category C, which means that studies performed in animals have shown adverse effects on the fetus and it is not known whether it has negative side- effects in human fetus.

Budesonide is secreted in human milk. It is not known if formoterol is secreted in human milk. Symbicort should be used with caution in nursing women; it should only be used when clearly needed.
