What Is Flonase?
Fluticasone spray, marketed in North America as Flonase, is a steroid nasal spray that reduces inflammation in the nose to alleviate certain symptoms associated with allergies. Flonase is distributed in a convenient pump that contains 120 sprays. Symptoms generally improve within the first 12 hours of usage, but may not completely resolve for several days. Most patients start their treatment with a higher dosage level until their symptoms are under control.
Flonase Uses
In most cases, Flonase is prescribed for the treatment of allergic rhinitis, or hay fever. Flonase does not prevent or cure allergies, but it will alleviate the common nasal symptoms associated with the condition, such as sneezing, congestion, and runny nose. It is used in the treatment of both seasonal and perennial allergies.
Your doctor may recommend Flonase for other uses not mentioned here. Fluticasone is also available in a topical formula designed to treat skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.
