Ketamine Drug Interactions

by on April 17, 2012

Ketamine can be extremely dangerous if taken in combination with other medications, the most serious of which is Memantine. Memantine works at the same area of the brain as ketamine so patients may experience more side effects such as:

  • Tiredness
  • Hallucinations
  • Headaches
  • Dizziness
  • Insomnia

If these side effects are experienced, professionals should contact their health care professional right away. Patients should not start, change, or stop the dosage of any medication before getting approval from a doctor. Other medications that can cause adverse reactions with ketamine include:

  • Vicodin
  • Oxycodone
  • Fentanyl
  • Luminal
  • Seconal
  • Lortab
  • Darvocet
  • Darvon
